Humility, thy name is Mothercrab

Today we heard an excellent sermon by Canon Avis. It was about humility and I think he was speaking directly to me. I'm sure if you were to ask him he would say, "Yes." And, he might just say it with a Russian accent. But I digress.

Well, I just got an email from JJR to look at the scrolling images on catholic.org, and, wouldn't you know, one of my photographs popped up! It is the shot of the Gaudete Sunday vestments in the sacristy at St. Francis de Sales Oratory! I'm not sure how this photograph ended up on this particular website though...  Hmmm...

UPDATE.
I went through my archives and realized I had posted this photo last December. I may have to change my name to GrandmaCrab what with my forgetfulness. No offense to Grandmas.

I ask you to go look at that photograph to be reminded of the joy that this Sunday brings us.
Gaudete in Domino semper.

Hey!  Who let MotherCrab into the sacristy?

I'll show YOU skateboarding

We have a Tony Hawk wannabe at de Sales.  I'm not going to name any names, but let's just say he's the sacristan for the largest church dedicated solely to the traditional mass in the entire galaxy.  His friends call him Trip A.

Here he is getting his sea legs:

I took off the training wheels! Yay!

Here he is shredding:

The stone house in the rear of this photo is presently for sale
for a whopping $10,000 if anyone is interested.

But I thought you might want to see what some real life backyard half-pipe action looks like circa 1988.  I may or may not be married to this person now.

She fell in love with me for my Vans.

And here is that same person reading a book (surprise!) while his brother bursts a spleen or something:

I call this trick "falling."

Pictures of minor orders!

Since I don't have the security clearance to steal use (I joke because I can) The Institute's photos from their website like The Timman, I would like to direct you there now so you can see pics of our own Abbé Alex receiving minor orders.

I already blogged about it here, but I didn't have photos.

In the meantime, enjoy the photos I have taken (I stole the 2nd one from Mrs. H) of our dear Abbé .

Speed limit 20, Abbé!

We don't dominate in just basketball, but football too, kids!...
...Well, not when playing against professionals.
Insert any funny caption here.

Can you identify these men?

Some men in black were spotted enjoying St. Louis' famous Ted Drewes frozen custard.  It was difficult to spot them as it was dark outside, but the bright yellow containers could be seen a mile away, blowing their cover.

Drat! Our cover's blown!
For extra points, try to guess what flavor custard they got!  I'll see if I can find that out!

Where's Mother Crab?

Hangin' out with Grandpa.

Since I've been in my house for 29 days now (minus time spent at hospitals, doctors and FINALLY, church yesterday), let's take a trip down memory lane to when my life was somewhat exciting and guess where this photo was taken!

Please put your answer in the combox.  Funny answers always make me like you more.

Happy waffles

My daughter brought breakfast to me this morning and it looked like this:

If this doesn't cheer you up, what will???

Her hair tasted the best!

Tree Pruning 101

Today a huge gust of wind went through my neighborhood, broke a huge branch off of my maple tree, broke 5 rungs of my upper deck and then...

went THROUGH the glass of my little side table which matches my large deck table.  Unfortunately, my sweet potato vines and the coelius which were waiting to be transplanted were on that little table.

A smaller branch fell into the chicken coop on one of the dumb poor chickens.  I'm sure it was on Bertha, so I don't feel too bad about that.  She is MEAN.

This looks like a job for Dad.

Don't mind the large sticks in your yard, ladies.
Again, this looks like a job for Dad.

Glass and dirt everywhere!

This actually looks like it would have killed someone!
My poor table! My poor plants!

First Holy Communion and Mother's Day

What is the greatest gift a mother could get on Mother's Day?  Diamonds, of course! But, a close second (I kid, I kid) is for a child to receive his First Holy Communion.  And there is no better place to receive one's First Holy Communion than here:

Luckily Canon told the children which parts they were supposed to listen to.

Consecration

Receiving  First Holy Communion

Believe it or not, no veils caught on fire and no boys set fire to the church.

I had to share the blue cassocks again because
I LOVE them.
Enrollment in the Brown Scapular.

Getting ready to be photographed as a group.
That lady up there is amazing as she is the one who gets this all together every year.
She also tells great jokes.

The Canons and Abbe about to hand out the gifts (which were lovely, by the way).

What goes better with a Lego Batman t-shirt than a brand new crucifix???

I hope you had a blessed Mother's Day as well.

Divine Mercy Sunday and May Crowning

Happy Quasi Modo Sunday to you!

We had our beautiful May Crowning today as well.  Canon H did quite well on the ladder.
No tripping, no teetering, excellent crowning.  No drama like 2 years ago...

Canon H crowning Mary.

But wait!  There's always more!  We also had a surprise birthday party for our 2 priests and Abbe.

I love surprise parties! Keep 'em coming!
Wait? A surprise for ME too???
Canon H with his cannon cake.  Get it?  Canon?  Cannon?

Did you notice the handiwork on the above cake?  Does it remind you of this at all?

Sniff, sniff.  Did somebody say sausage?
Testing out the new wheels.
We may need a new and unbroken Abbe soon.
Skater Trip A

Just another regular Sunday...
